Shelvery 0.9.8
The 0.9.8
release of Shelvery introduces two new features.
- Optional re-encryption of RDS Cluster & Instance snapshots
- Ability to skip backups of explicity unset retention types.
Snapshot Re-encryption
A core functionality of Shelvery is it’s ablility to share backups with a designated Databunker account, however an observed issue was when RDS snapshots encrypted with the default KMS key were blocked from sharing.
With the latest release, we can now set the parameter shelvery_reencrypt_kms_key_id
to specify a new customer KMS key to re-encrypt the snapshot with, this ensures that that snapshot can then be shared again with a databunker account.

Skip zero retention
Previously setting the retention period of a retention type to 0
would still cause a backup to be taken and cleant up the following clean up event.
Shelvery now validates the retention period of each retention type in the standard precedence and skips any that are explictly disabled.
